Consultations typically last between one and two hours. 

A plan is prepared that includes the general layout of hardscapes, plant materials, and other site features. This type of plan is particularly useful if a homeowner intends to implement the landscape improvements in phases. Options include a preliminary cost estimate and a color rendering of the plan. Several alternate designs can also be prepared.

This is the final stage of design, following completion of the preliminary plan. Construction documents are prepared that are suitable for use by a contractor (or the homeowners) for installation. These include detailed drawings and specifications for site grading, drainage, plant materials, hardscapes, water features, and other elements. A detailed cost estimate can also be prepared.

The landscape architect assists the homeowner in obtaining and evaluating bids, and also makes site visits during construction to check on the contractor’s work.
